The competitive world of golf will have a different look this weekend with a family affair at the Sunshine State.
20 two-player teams composed of PGA stars from past and present paired with one of their family members will compete in the 2020 PNC Championship at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida from December 17-20, 2020.
This event used to be called the Father-Son Challenge. It isn’t an official PGA event but is considered a Challenge Event, which means that it doesn’t count in the official tour records and has no bearing in the FedEx Cup race as well. However, it doesn’t mean that it’s not a big event.
Each team must have at least one golf major winner or a winner of the Players Championship. This year’s group has a combined 67 majors won. Teams play in a scramble format and unlike other golf events, this one has no cut so that makes it all the more very fun and interesting.

While Justin Thomas and his dad are the +200 odds on favorite to win the event, all eyes are on the duo of Tiger Woods and his son Charlie who are currently tied with the second best odds to win the tournament at +600 per BetOnline.ag.
You see, bettors always favor Tiger Woods a lot, regardless of his form, but this one isn’t even about him. The focus is on Woods’ 11 year old son Charlie who is making a lot of noise in the junior circuit, with back to back wins in the South Florida junior circuit during the summer. If you watch videos of his smooth swing and confident putting, you’d be amazed at how good this cub is. But then again, he’s Tiger’s son so there’s nothing to be surprised about.

This will be Charlie’s first big time appearance and this 36-hole event will be his coming out party, just like Tiger’s first public appearance at the “Mike Douglas Show” when he was just two years old. Charlie is 11 but there is no doubt that if he pursues a golf career, he will carry the pressure of being the son of the greatest golfer ever. For now though, it’s a father and son event that these PGA golfers should enjoy.
Don’t Forget the Langers

But while all eyes are on Charlie Woods and the betting odds are favoring the Thomases, don’t forget that Bernhard Langer and his sons have won this event four times. Two-time Masters winner Bernhard won back to back PNC titles with son Stefan in 2005 and 2006. Meanwhile, he brought in Jason to win the event in 2014, and last year-in dramatic fashion.
Bernhard and Jason closed the 2019 edition with a second consecutive -12 under 60 to match the score of Retief and Leo Goosen and Tom and Thomas Lehman on top of the leaderboard. However, an impressive 270-yard 3-wood approach by Jason set up the winning putt by his dad.
This year, Bernhard is bringing a third child to the event – daughter Jackie Langer John. Bernhard and Jackie teamed up in 2018 but they only finished in 16th place The Langers are just a +1600 at the current odds board but given the family history here, they could pull off a surprise.
