Everyone’s Favourite Competitive Mobile Game: PUBG Is Back

The PUBG Corporation announced last Thursday that PUBG Mobile will return to India in a new avatar.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds or PUBG was banned in India in September, as well as 116 other apps, by the Information and Technology Ministry in India. Players were not able to access the game from 30th October and a corresponding announcement was made by the company through their Facebook page that said,

“Tencent Games will terminate all service and access for users in India to PUBG MOBILE Nordic Map: Livik and PUBG MOBILE Lite (together, “PUBG Mobile”) on October 30, 2020. The rights to publish PUBG MOBILE in India will be returned to the owner of the PUBG intellectual property.”

However, now, the South Korean gaming company has planned to reenter the Indian market with a new game, PUBG Mobile India. The new game is to be specifically designed to cater to the Indian audience, maximizing security and adhering to the regulations specified in the country. A report by Gadgets 3600 on NDTV suggests that PUBG announced that regular audits will be conducted of the storage systems that store personal data of Indian users to ensure that user data is safe.

The exact release date has not been shared by PUBG Corporation. Also, the parent company KRAFTON is also planning to invest $100 million in India to boost the video game, esports, IT, and entertainment ecosystems in the country, as per a report in TechCrunch!

India was one of the biggest customers for PUBG Mobile and it was almost heartbreaking for players to realise that it was going to be banned. The company itself is now planning on opening an office in the country and hire more than 100 employees!
