NCAA Football Betting Preview: Indian Hoosiers vs. Wisconsin Badgers – Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020

The Hoosiers will be playing Wisconsin without their starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr. They will try to take a game on the road against one of the best teams in the Big Ten.

This matchup will take place at 3:30 pm ET in front of limited in-person attendance. The Badgers are sitting as double digit favorites over an Indiana team that is now led by backup quarterback Jack Tuttle.

Indiana Hoosiers Betting Preview: Can Tuttle Impress?

The Hoosiers losing their starting quarterback for the year with a torn ACL was a huge blow to their season. However, all the other players that made Indiana the 12th ranked team in the nation are still there.

Starting running back Stevie Scott III is still having a great season with eight touchdowns in Indiana’s six games so far, and the Hoosiers will have to rely on him to open up the passing lanes for their new quarterback.

Doing against the Badgers defense will be difficult, though, as they are one of the best run defenses in the nation and have only allowed an average of 63.7 rushing yards per game. They haven’t allowed a rushing touchdown so far this season.

In the end, Indiana’s path to victory in this ranked matchup depends on if Tuttle can get the ball to his star receivers at the right times. It will be a difficult challenge, but Tuttle was 5-for-5 when he came in for Penix against Maryland. Let’s see if he can keep up the momentum.

Wisconsin Badgers Betting Preview: Give the Home Fans a Reason to Cheer

Unless there is some kind of rule change in the coming weeks, Wisconsin is ineligible to qualify for the Big Ten Championship game with one too many game cancellations to hit the six-game threshold required.

So in terms of this year’s season, this game means nothing to the Badgers. They are a great team but were the victim of some unfortunate circumstances in 2020. However, this is their last home game of the year and likely want to send the fans home happy.

Quarterback Graham Mertz had a bad game in their loss to Northwestern and is looking for a rebound performance against an Indiana defense that leads the Big Ten in interceptions.

Although, Wisconsin’s stout defense should carry them through this game, especially going up against a backup quarterback. Wisconsin will probably not have to score much to win this.

Free Betting Pick:

I’m betting on Tuttle to do better than people expect and keep things close enough to cover the spread in this game.

Wisconsin has nothing to play for with their Big Ten Championship hopes gone for the season, while Indiana can make a big statement if they pull through and win this one.

Wisconsin is certainly the better team and will win this game, but it will not be by 14 points. The Hoosiers will keep this tough road matchup closer than people think.
