Coming off of a solid win over TCU at home, West Virginia heads into their biggest challenge of the year so far, facing No. 9 Iowa State on the Cyclones’ home turf.
This game will take place at 3:30 pm ET on Saturday, with Iowa State looking to win their final game of the regular season.
West Virginia Mountaineers Betting Preview: Turn Yards Into Touchdowns
The Mountaineers have no trouble racking up yardage with their offense as they average 442.6 total yards per game. However, this hasn’t translated so much to points, and West Virginia has only a 5-3 record because of this.
West Virginia hasn’t played a game since November 14th, but that game was a convincing win against TCU. The defense looked solid in that game, keeping TCU to only 6 points, and running back Leddie Brown had a day with 156 yards on 24 carries.
At this point in the season, West Virginia is just playing for bragging rights as they will likely not be playing in any big bowl game, nor the Big 12 Championship game.
If West Virginia is going to upset Iowa State on Saturday, they will have to be translating yards into touchdowns against the Cyclones elite defensive linemen.
Iowa State Cyclones Betting Preview: Finish Strong
This year, Iowa State has had a solid season and have earned their spot as the #9 team in the nation overall. With a win over West Virginia, they will clinch the top spot in the Big 12 conference.
Quarterback Brock Purdy has taken a step back this season, but this hasn’t stopped Iowa State from being a strong team overall. The defense has been good, and they have been able to lean on running back Breese Hall when needed.
On paper, Iowa State is the better team and, by all means, should win this game at home. But will they win it by more than 6? The Mountaineers defense has been excellent this year, and a struggling Purdy may have his hands full this time around.

This is a better game than the rankings make it out to be, but I believe that Iowa State will handle business in their last game of the season.
West Virginia has not played well on the road so far, and Iowa State is an extra tough match-up to play on their home turf. Plus, the Cyclones have much more riding on this game than West Virginia does.
Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell will have his team prepared to take home the Big 12 and leave their fans, as well as those that bet them, happy with the result. They will cover the spread and win by well over 6.5.
