Peru vs Argentina Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

  • Argentina are unbeaten in 10 matches since July 2019.
  • Peru failed to score in four of their last seven assignments.
  • Argentina won each of their last three away matches.

Argentina favourites to triumph in Lima

A frustrated Argentina saw their perfect start to their World Cup qualification campaign end last week when La Albiceleste were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Paraguay, though we expect Lionel Scaloni’s side to rediscover their winning touch in Lima on Wednesday.

Scaloni’s star-studded Argentina squad are unbeaten in 10 competitive and friendly assignments since their heart-breaking Copa America semi-final defeat to Brazil in July 2019, and having won each of their last three tests outside their homeland, a fourth away victory on the bounce looks possible this week.

Peru are reeling following successive defeats to Brazil and Chile, and while their first loss to the Selecao wasn’t entirely unexpected, the manner of their 4-2 reverse in Lima is certain to have had an impact on the confidence levels in their squad.

Without the talismanic services of injured veteran striker Paolo Guerrero, the Peruvians didn’t look themselves in their more recent 2-0 loss in Chile, and an efficient Argentina team, powered by a lengthy unbeaten streak, should have enough momentum to win this week.

Alongside our away win forecast, a 1-0 Argentine triumph is favoured for our correct score prediction. Scaloni’s team have yet to catch fire in the final third in South America’s World Cup qualification section, and La Albiceleste notched a total of just four goals in their first three matches in the group.

A single effort should be enough for Argentina to see off a Peruvian outfit that failed to register in four of their last seven attempts however.
