# The High Rollers 150 Strategy Roulette Guide

Most strategies already covered on the mBitcasino blog, during our mission to deliver every roulette system possible, are based on even odds numbers, and so we thought it is time for a fresh approach. In this guide we will take a look at the 150 Roulette Strategy, which is a system that moves away from ‘even odds’ outside bets by using a mixture of ‘2-1’ outside bets and inside bets.

This system is popular amongst high rollers because there is a low chance of losing when using this system as it a spread betting strategy that limits the risk of losing and enhances your chances of raking in a \$30 profit for a \$150 bet with a 3 to 37 risk of losing or in other words a 1 in 12.33 chance of losing. That means this bet gives you a 91.89% chance of winning on every spin, which is why this system piqued our curiosity.

Unlike the Martingale, D’Alembert, Labouchère, and Fibonacci systems, the 150 roulette strategy is not named after a famous mathematician or politician. Instead, this strategy’s name comes from the amount you place for each bet, which is \$150. And yes, you read correctly. Using this strategy, you will risk \$150 per bet, so this is definitely not a system for the light-hearted.

If you have \$150 to lose then great, but if you don’t then you can probably find other ways to break the system down once you read how to implement the 150 strategy. You could find a \$0.10 roulette table and use \$3 per bet but that would ruin the name of this strategy hence you will rarely see people explain this system as the \$3 bet strategy because it just doesn’t have the same ring to it!

For those of you that are not willing to lose \$150 or don’t like the idea of large bets, the Martingale, D’Alembert, Labouchère, Fibonacci and other even odds betting systems are worth a try. You can read about them in our ‘Complete Guide to Every Even Odds Roulette Strategy’ guide here.

Here’s what we will cover in this 150 Strategy Roulette Guide:

## 2-1 Bets Vs Straight Bets

Before we begin getting into the sequence of bets required, for the benefit of those new to roulette, we are going to cover the 2 bets types used for the 150 roulette strategy.

1. Column Bets & Dozen Bets

Both these options are known as outside bets because you are not placing your chips directly on any of the numbers on the inside of the roulette table’s betting board. Also, both bets pay out a total of 2-1 and each of them comes with 3 options.

Column Bet:These are the 3 rows of numbers that run the length of the table from the ‘0’ to the 34, 35, and 36 numbers so from right to left or left to right–however, you prefer. Each of these rows/columns contains 12 numbers, so when you make this bet, you are covering all the numbers in the row/column.

Dozen Bet:These numbers are in 3 chunks ‘or’ clusters of 12 numbers that run the width of the roulette table. You have 3 options, and each one will allow you to cover 12 numbers in the dozen box you choose to bet on.

2. Straight Bets

Straight bets are basically any number on the inside of the roulette board. On a European or French roulette table there are 37 numbers. These are numbers 1 to 36 and then the ‘0’. To place a straight bet, you need to place your chip directly on a number without letting the chip touch any of the lines.

If you win this bet, you win 35-1 even though the odds of winning are 37-1 (2.7%) on a European roulette table and 38-1 (2.6%) on an American roulette table. It is this subtle difference that gives the house an edge over the player.

If you let your chip touch a line surrounding the number you bet on, the casino may class this as a ‘split bet’ between 2 numbers. Therefore, if you are playing roulette in a land-based casino, just be aware of this rule!”

## Breaking Down the Rules of the 150 Roulette System

Now we have covered the 2 bet types the ‘150 Strategy Roulette’ uses, we can explain how this system works. Really, there is nothing technical about the implementation of this system. You literally need to be a brave soul and pray that the ‘0’ never comes in, or either of the other 2 numbers you bet on. On an American or US table, you will need to content with the ‘00’ too making it 4 numbers not covered.

In a nutshell, you only need to follow these 3 steps:

1. Bet \$50 on the ‘first’ column bet area (Covering 12 numbers)
2. Bet \$50 on the ‘second’ column bet area (Covering 12 numbers)
3. Bet \$5 on any ten straight bet options on the remaining 12 numbers not covered by the above 2 column bets (Covering 10 numbers)

Or you can use this tactic:

1. Bet \$50 on the ‘first’ dozen bet area (Covering 12 numbers)
2. Bet \$50 on the ‘second’ dozen bet area (Covering 12 numbers)
3. Bet \$5 on any ten straight bet options on the remaining 12 numbers not covered by the above 2 dozen bets (Covering 10 numbers)

“It really doesn’t matter whether you use 2 column bets or 2 dozen bets for this strategy. As long as your straight bets are used on the numbers not covered by your 2 outside bets, then this system is good to go!”

So, this strategy requires a total of 2 outside bets and 10 inside bets, which is 12 bets in total. As long as you follow these rules, and you play on a European Roulette table, there are only 3 numbers out of 37 not covered, which means you only have a 3 in 37 (8.11%) chance of losing. Now let’s have a look at what you can win using this system in the next section.

Total outlay for your bets:

• 2 Outside bets = \$100
• 10 (\$5) Inside Bets = \$50

## 150 Roulette Strategy in Action

There are 3 ways to win using this system. Hit 1 of the 2 outside bets, and you win your \$50 bet back + \$100 on top = (\$150) or hit any of the 10 inside straight bets for your \$5 bet returned and a \$175 win = \$180 and a tidy \$30 profit on top of your \$150 outlay. That means the outside 2-1 bets are there to cover your other bets, while your ultimate goal is to hit one of the straight bets to gain a profit.

• 2-1 Outside bets pay – \$150 (You win your money back and remain even)
• 35-1 Straight Bet pays – \$180 (Your profit is \$30 on top if we minus the \$150)

“In our test run below we will use an American roulette table with ‘0’ and ‘00’. There are 38 numbers on this variant rather than 37, so it makes the numbers easier to divide by 2!”

In the table below, we are going to look at the strategy from a mathematical perspective. Now to make this easier we will assume that we are playing on an American Roulette table. That means we have 38 numbers and a 4 in 38 (9.5 to 1) chance of losing because there is a ‘0’ and ‘00’ that are impossible to cover.

For reasons of probability and mathematics, we will run through half the spins versus numbers, so that is 19 spins which is exactly half of 38 numbers. Once we have played 19 spins in the table below, we will look at whether this strategy is worth playing.

Now here’s the slightly hard part if you are new to roulette. We need to determine how many times the laws of probability will allow us to win straight bets, versus a loss, versus a 2-1 bet win for this to work. To be honest, this is a super easy calculation so just pay attention.

Here is the probability of each outcome:

• Column bet 1 = 12 out of 38 coups (6 times)
• Colum Bet 2 = 12 out of 38 coups (6 times)
• 10 Straight Bets = 10 out of 38 Coups (5 times)
• 4 Non-bet Numbers = 4 out of 38 Coups (2 times)

Now we have the probabilities, we are going to place these into a table and see what the final outcome is to see if this strategy is a winner or a loser!

 Coup Number Bet Amount Result of Coup Coup Profit/Loss Session Profit/Loss 1 \$150 2-1 Win \$0 \$0 2 \$150 2-1 Win \$0 \$0 3 \$150 2-1 Win \$0 \$0 4 \$150 35-1 Win \$30 +\$30 5 \$150 2-1 Win \$0 +\$30 6 \$150 35-1 Win \$30 +\$60 7 \$150 Loss \$150 -\$90 8 \$150 2-1 Win \$0 -\$90 9 \$150 2-1 Win \$0 -\$90 10 \$150 2-1 Win \$0 -\$90 11 \$150 35-1 Win \$30 -\$60 12 \$150 35-1 Win \$30 -\$30 13 \$150 2-1 Win \$0 -\$30 14 \$150 2-1 Win \$0 -\$30 15 \$150 2-1 Win \$0 -\$30 16 \$150 2-1 Win \$0 -\$30 17 \$150 Loss \$150 -\$180 18 \$150 2-1 Win \$0 -\$180 19 \$150 35-1 Win \$30 -\$150

## 19 Bet Summary Using The 150 Roulette System

As you can see, there is nothing to it when implementing the system. However, 1 loss can do the world of damage along the way, and in roulette anything can happen. All in all, you can see that after exactly half the spins, according to the laws of probabilities playing roulette, this strategy is a looser in the long run. In fact, if you played all 38 coups with no variation whatsoever i.e., the laws of probability were exact, then you would lose \$300.

Even with 1 loss over 19 coups or 2 losses over 38 coups, you would still break even. Which means even if we play this strategy on a European or French Roulette table, the chances are we would still lose if the laws of probability played out exactly as mathematical science suggests.

• Laws of probability do not add in the long run
• You could end up losing a considerable amount of cash

## Pros and Cons of the 150 Roulette System

After running our test, there really are no benefits to playing the 150 strategy roulette system. It costs you a lot of cash to play, and the chances are you will end up with considerable losses as probability still works against you.

Albeit all roulette systems are played against the odds because there is no sure-fire way to beat roulette. If there was, then we would all be playing it. However, this system can be a little crazy unless luck is on your side.

The only pros we can really think of are that sometimes playing a strategy is better than not playing one at all. Plus, if variation is on your side, you can win.

Probably the best way to play this strategy is using a ‘hit and run’ and ‘bet and hope’ strategy. Basically, this means placing a few bets, hope you do not hit one of the numbers not covered by your bets, and if you win or after a couple of wins quit while you’re ahead and switch to a new strategy.

Another pro that we could mention is that the \$150 bet amount is just for show. You can dumb this amount down with some simple mathematics and test the strategy out for yourself using low stakes. In other words, we are not going to use the fact that you need \$150 as a ‘con’ because the number is there just as bait to attract people to read about this strategy.

• You can break the \$150 down into smaller bet sizes
• If you play a few bets and win, you can quit while you’re ahead

## Playing on American Vs European Roulette Tables

Just for some clarity, because we mentioned American and European roulette quite often in this guide, we are going to explain the key difference between these 2 variants.

American Roulette: This variant of roulette is also known as US roulette. The key difference from other roulette tables is that its betting boards do not have a racetrack, there are 38 numbers instead of 37, and the additional number is a ‘00’ meaning the American roulette wheel has 2 zero positions.

• 38 Numbers
• 1 to 36
• ‘0’ and ‘00’

 Bet Type Pay Out Win Probability House Edge RTP Straight 35/1 2.63% 5.26% 94.74% Column 2/1 31.58% 5.26% 94.74% Dozen 2/1 31.58% 5.26% 94.74%

Just for some clarity, because we mentioned American and European roulette quite often in this guide, we are going to explain the key difference between these 2 variants.

European Roulette: This variant of roulette is also known as French roulette. The key differences from other roulette tables is that its betting boards usually have a racetrack and there are 37 numbers instead of 38 because there is no ‘00’. The only difference between European Roulette and French Roulette is the writing on the French variant is in French language.

• 37 Numbers
• 1 to 36
• ‘0’

 Bet Type Pay Out Win Probability House Edge RTP Straight 35/1 2.70% 2.70% 97.30% Column 2/1 32.4% 2.70% 97.30% Dozen 2/1 32.4% 2.70% 97.30%

American vs European Roulette: If you do try out the 150 roulette strategy, then always look for a European roulette table because this will help reduce your chances of losing. In fact, as the RTP on roulette and French roulette tables are far superior at 97.3% compared to American Roulette’s 94.74%, you should only play the American variant if there is nothing else available.

• Always select European Roulette tables when they are available
• American Roulette’s additional ‘00’ negatively affects your winning probability

## Low Stakes 150 Strategy Roulette Options

If you are worried about the \$150 bet sizes playing this strategy, then you can always break it down using simple mathematics. Alternatively, there are plenty of roulette tables that come with a ‘free play demo’ mode.

Demo mode ‘Free PlayRoulette: Most virtual roulette tables have a demo mode built in by the software provider that designed the game. This allows you to ramp your ‘free play’ chips to \$150 and try this strategy out on a real money roulette table without it costing you a penny.

Try Casino Roulette by Wazdan and select demo mode…

Low Stake Roulette Tables: Another way to test out the 150 strategy roulette is by playing on a low stakes roulette table.

For example, you can budget \$15 and split your inside side straight up bets into \$0.50 each and your 2-1 bets to \$5 each. If you double that number, you can bet \$1 on the inside side straight up bets and \$10 on your 2-1 outside bets.

You can even drop to table as low as \$0.10 per spin and use \$3 bets. \$0.10 on all your inside side straight up bets and \$1 on each of your 2-1 outside bets.

Roulette for High Rollers: If money isn’t much of an issue for you, then the best place to play roulette is on the live dealer tables where you will get an authentic casino gaming experience. You can play versus a live dealer streamed to your webcam to your mobile or desktop device. Some VIP tables allow you to bet up to \$15,000 or you can place bets using crypto.

We recommend lighting roulette by Evolution because this table gives you the added benefit of winning multipliers. Seeing as you are betting all but 3 numbers on the board, as this is a European Roulette table, the chances are that you will hit the multiplier on most bets. You can win between 50x and 500x your bet via the additional multiplier feature.

However, be warned that each bet will have 20% deducted for the privilege of playing this title with multipliers.Try Lightning Roulette by Evolution here…
