The Wise Dan Stakes from Churchill Downs Betting Preview – Saturday, June 20, 2020

The $200,000 Wise Dan Stakes Presented by Ford (G2T) at Churchill Downs is set for June 20.

A field of 11 older horses will face off in the 1 1/8-mile event on the grass, which is on the same card as the $100,000 Audubon Stakes Presented by Twinspires.com.

Here is a look at the top runners in the field for the Wise Dan.

Factor This

The field of 11 will be led by Gaining Ground Racing’s three-time stakes winner Factor This.

A $62,500 claim in 2018, he has won five races with trainer Brad Cox, including back-to-back wins in the $150,000 Fair Grounds Stakes (G3T) and the $300,000 Muniz Memorial Classic Stakes (G2T) at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots.

The 5-year-old son of The Factor has been working constantly at Churchill over the turf course.

Factor This will break from post 3 under Shaun Bridgmohan as the favorite at 8/5.

March to the Arch, Parlor

Live Oak Plantation’s March to the Arch will be looking to defend his title after taking the 2019 Wise Dan.

Trained by Mark Casse, he kicked off his 2020 campaign with a victory in the $150,000 Sunshine Millions Turf Stakes at Gulfstream Park. He also finished third in the $175,000 Tampa Bay Stakes (G3T) at Tampa Bay Downs and the $100,000 Appleton Stakes (G3T) at Gulfstream.

March to the Arch then went on to California to finish a disappointing 10th in the $300,000 Shoemaker Mile Stakes (G1T).

He will break from post 7 under jockey Florent Geroux at 5/1.

Another runner to keep an eye on is the 6-year-old Parlor. Trained by Michael J. Maker, he has a record of 6-6-4 from 27 career starts with earnings of $482,527. In 2020, he has participated in four races with one victory, one second-place, and one third-place.

Last time out, the son of Lonhro finished second in a May 23 Allowance Optional Claiming at Churchill Downs. That followed a March 18 Allowance Optional Claiming victory at Fair Grounds.

Parlor’s last stakes performance came back on Jan. 18 when he finished seventh in the Colonel E. R. Bradley Stakes at Fair Grounds.

He will break from the outside post 11 under Tyler Gaffalione at 9/2.

The rest of the field (post, morning line) includes Just Howard (post 1, 10/1); English Bee (post 2, 10/1); Eons (post 4, 50/1); Aquaphobia (post 5, 6/1); Ritzy A. P. (post 6, 20/1); Emmanuas (post 8, 15/1); and Casa Creed (post 10, 12/1).
