The third chapter of the heavyweight trilogy between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier promises to be the best of all. The bar has been set high after their second meeting clash.
What we know is this is it. There won’t be a rematch after this fight as Cormier plans to retire and become a UFC commentator. So this fight has all the makings to be one of the best in history.
Let’s break down the main event, along with the rest of the card.
Stipe Miocic Vs. Daniel Cormier

Miocic Vs. Cormier Total Rounds Odds
We know the deal here. Daniel Cormier won the first fight in 2018 after landing a right hook in the first round. There isn’t much to say about that meeting after it ended quickly:
Stipe Miocic took the belt back in 2019 after one of the best fights in UFC history. Cormier dominated most of the battle until the fourth round when Stipe stumbled onto the fact that body shots hurt DC.
It was marvelous to see how Miocic realized that Cormier couldn’t handle the shots to the body in the middle of the fight. DC loves fast food, but his body fat didn’t absorb those punches as he wanted.
Fast forward to the third meeting
The oddsmakers made Miocic -105 to win the contest. This tells you how close a call this meeting will be.
Miocic has a significant reach and size difference to his favor, but he didn’t use them in either of the first two fights. His breakthrough in the second fight was landing his left hook just at the right time when Cormier looked tired. DC agrees:
You’re absolutely right buddy, I got tired. My cardio failed me in that fight. It will not happen again. https://t.co/pvTXhmEn9U

Recapping the Last Miocic Vs. Cormier:
The first two meetings had unreal moments, with both fighters trading punches all over the place. It looked like the movies instead of real-life MMA fight. But the third chapter doesn’t look like it will have the same pace. Nevertheless, it should be entertaining.
Cormier found out how dangerous Stipe is if you go into a boxing brawl against him. I expect DC to take this fight to the ground. He will attempt more takedowns than the first two meetings combined and win it with his wrestling skills. He’s the superior wrestler, and he knows it.
Great wrestling push yesterday, thanks for the rounds @CoreyA_MMA Always toughest day of the week but it’s necessary. Feels good to be getting to the end of the camp and ready to compete. 11 days #andnew pic.twitter.com/p6EwhoOw9U

Bet: Daniel Cormier -115.
Sean O’Malley Vs. Marlon Vera
O’Malley Vs. Vera Total Rounds Odds
Sean O’Malley is beast, and no one should be surprised he’s such a big favorite in this fight. He’s 12-0 since 2015, winning eight of his contests via KO/TKO. Five of his last seven fights ended in the first round.
Marlon Vera is coming off a loss against Song Yadong in May. He lasted all three rounds but lost via decision. The issue is Vera is not the type of fighter that will give O’Malley any real problem. Let’s be honest.
Bet: Sean O’Malley -320.
Magomed Ankalae Vs. Ion Cutelaba
Ankalae Vs. Cutelaba Odds To Win
Ankalae Vs. Cutelaba Total Rounds Odds
Ankalae vs. Cutelaba is another one-sided contest in this card. At least it’s what the oddsmakers seem to think.
Magomed Ankalae has won 14 of his 15 presentations in the UFC, including a controversial win against Ion Cutelaba after 38 seconds in February.
Will they last this time? Most likely
Ankalae is -300, which is a lot to lay down because we haven’t seen them fully fight each other yet. The stoppage was too early and prevented us from enjoying a haymaker galore.
I think this second fight will last a lot longer. The total is the play here.
Bet: Over 1.5 rounds -115.
Junior dos Santos Vs. Jairzinho Rozenstruik
dos Santos Vs. Rozenstruik Odds To Win
dos Santos Vs. Rozenstruik Total Rounds Odds
Junior dos Santos hasn’t shown his best side the last two times he was in the Octagon. Two straight losses via TKO against Francis Ngannou and Curtis Blaydes let everybody think his best days are behind him.
Jairzinho Rozenstruik also lost to Francis Ngannou. But let’s face it, who hasn’t? He had a lot of luck beating Alistair Overeem back in December when they were trading punches in the last rounds. Rozenstruik landed one with four seconds remaining in the fight and somehow took the W home.
As much as these two heavyweights would like to end each other with one punch, neither is an early-round finisher. They need to wear down their opponent to finish it in the last rounds. The Over is the best bet.
Pick: Over 1.5 rounds.
John Dodson Vs. Merab Dvalishvili
Dodson Vs. Dvalishvili Odds To Win
Dodson Vs. Dvalishvili Total Rounds Odds
Merab Dvalishvili has won four straight fights entering this meeting against John Dodson. All four wins were via unanimous decision. In fact, 11 of his 15 contests in the UFC have gone the distance.
Dodson beat Nathaniel Wood back in February and ended a two-fight losing streak. Six of his last seven fights also went the distance.
I guess you know by now where I’m going with this. Neither fighter is particularly keen to end the fight with their punching power. Plus, both have this idea of studying the opponent a little more than they should in the early rounds.
Pick: Over 2.5 rounds -300.
