Which Fast Food Restaurant Does Gordon Ramsay Actually Eat?

Gordon Ramsay is one of the most recognizable chefs on the planet – this didn’t happen overnight, that’s for sure.

The chef admits he wasn’t motivated by money or fame, even though he’s among the wealthiest these days. For Ramsay, it is all about passion and taking nothing for granted.

He learned several lessons along the way, working all over the world, he even admits that some of the lessons were learning how NOT to cook, with gigs at hotels during the early portion of his journey in the culinary business. Ultimately, dedication got him to where he is.

“The secret of my success is that I take nothing for granted,” he tells Variety over late morning lattes at the Soho House in West Hollywood. “I go into every restaurant, every program, as if it’s the first day. And I give 110%. Because it’s not that money that turns me on. I find that side slightly embarrassing. It’s wonderful and it’s nice, but it doesn’t make you a better chef. The fundamental crux of a successful chef is being true to what you do.”

Outside of the kitchen, Ramsay seems to be a little more relaxed and believe it or not, heck, he’s even open to fast food – though it has to be a specific spot. We’ll discuss which fast food place Ramsay actually approves and which places he’ll never eat at.

The minute most of us think of fast food, we immediately associate it with something negative – or something that isn’t restaurant quality. Ramsay has a different view, especially when it comes to fast food establishments around the world;

“Yeah, so let’s get one thing clear,” the chef says. “Fast food doesn’t need to be junk food. Fast food can be good food. I have a show on YouTube called Scrambled. Every country I go to [for Uncharted], I’ll do a scramble.” He mixes in regional ingredients to play with local flavors and keep things interesting. “So, for instance when I was in Louisiana,” he says, “I did scrambled eggs with beautiful crawfish. When I was in Guyana, I did scrambled eggs with the most amazing black piranhas. When I was in India, I did the most amazing acorn squash scrambled eggs.”

Surprisingly, Ramsay is a huge fan of a certain spot in the US. But before we reveal that place, let’s discuss where you’ll never find Ramsay eating…

Certain Foods Are Off The Table… Like Airplane Food

Of course, Ramsay does a lot of traveling, this means he’s in airports lots of times. While traveling Gordon keeps things light;

“A nice selection of Italian meats, a little glass of red wine, some sliced apples or pears with some parmesan cheese, I’m like a pig in shit,” he says.

However, that’s as far as it’ll go, you won’t see the chef eating on an airplane, he’s completely against it;

“There’s no way I eat on planes,” he says. “I worked for airlines for ten years, so I know where this food’s been and where it goes, and how long it took before it got on board.”

Ramsay is in a different place these days when it comes to eating, taking a healthy approach. He admitted with Men’s Journal that following a proper diet was a bit of a struggle;

“I started focusing on getting super-fit five or six years ago when my life got super-busy,” Ramsay told The Daily Mail. “You get consumed by the work. You get sucked up…All of a sudden your ‘me time’ is zero. There was no breathing space, no down time, no time to even think straight. It all started hitting me hard. I didn’t panic, but my head was not in the game.”

Ramsay thrived, losing over 50-pounds! Nonetheless, he’ll still indulge every now and then and that includes this fast-food spot.

He Has A Fast-Food Go-To

Let’s not get it twisted, Ramsay loves himself a good burger from a fast-food spot. According to the Hell’s Kitchen star, In-N-Out Burger is his spot of choice when it is time to indulge;

“Every chef in the country loves indulging in fast food,” says the chef. “So, take me to the drive-thru at In-N-Out burger and you’ll see me in the back seat with tinted windows with a Double Double.”

Great to see the normal side of chef Ramsay, yes, he joins comfort food just like the rest of us – though, in order to maintain his new physique, he’s likely doing cheat meals a little less these days.
